Dr. Anna Conen

Dr. Anna Conen, MD MSc, is a specialist in Infectious Diseases, Clinical Consultant, and deputy Head Physician of the Infectious Diseases Clinic at the Kantonsspital Aarau, Aarau, Switzerland.

Dr. Anna Conen received her MD degree from the University of Basel, Switzerland, in 2002. Thereafter, she received her board-certified specialist degrees in internal medicine in 2006 and in infectious diseases in 2008 in Basel, Switzerland. Since, she acquired a broad clinical experience in infectious diseases with a focus on implant-associated infections, not only in orthopedic and trauma surgery, but also in neurosurgery and cardiology. She is an excellent and well-respected clinical teacher.

In 2012/13 she successfully completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology (MSc) at the Berlin School of Public Health in Berlin, Germany. Her research activity includes clinical studies on neurosurgical and cardiological device-associated infections, optimized use of blood culture diagnostic in emergency departments as well as optimized diagnostic in septic arthritis (D-lactate). She established the national registry of TAVI-associated endocarditis in Switzerland and wrote reviews on treatment recommendations for neurosurgical implant-associated infections.
