PRO-IMPLANT Foundation is launching the "Homecare" Trial evaluating the feasibility of intravenous treatment at patient home. This study aims to improve quality of life and reduce hospital stay in patients requiring prolonged intravenous antibiotic therapy.
This study is going to be carried out in a collaboration with a specialized medical service for homecare intravenous treatment and offers patient individual solutions with infusion devices which can be handled by the patient, general practitioner or relative. This study intends to quantify the clinical benefit in terms of life quality improvement and the cost / benefit of outpatient intravenous antibiotic treatment from the perspective of healthcare insurer.
A dedicated service and infusion device allows patients to be discharged early into outpatient or home care. Due to familiar environment during prolonged therapy, we expect a significant improvement of life quality and cost-saving to the healthcare. In addition, patients at homecare treatment may benefit from the reduced exposure to multi-resistant microorganism in the hospital.
